The Cairns Tennis Centre is located next to the Tobruk Swimming Pool in Cairns North on the Captain Cook Highway.

Tennis Events

Tennis Australia has promised that they would host at least three tournaments at the Cairns Regional Tennis Centre that would draw a crowd including top 10 ranked Australian Players, as well as highly ranked international juniors! Some of the promised events are an International Juniors event, a pro circuit tournament and Australian Money events.

The Cairns Regional Tennis Centre Facilities

The Cairns Tennis Centre will be boasting a tropical focused design with a specially created verandah to capture any cool breezes, create shade for the glare and tropical warmth, along with a full clubhouse that Cairns players can be proud of, including change rooms, pro shop, players gymnasium, offices, and meeting come media rooms. The playing surface utilised will be a plexi-cushion surface which is the same type of surface used in the Australian Open. Newly released designs for the North Cairns Reserve's sporting facelift include 12 tennis courts built to International Tennis Federation standards, a show court with a portable grandstand and a second synthetic hockey pitch. The Cairns tennis centre is expected to open September 2010. The Cairns City Council will spend $2.5 million on the centre. The State Government has committed $1.9 million and Tennis Queensland the balance.
