Your suite at Hilton’s Haven opens up onto a spacious verandah that looks out onto the beautiful rainforest coated Grove’s Creek. The transpiring sound of the trickling creek is a wonderful way to relax while enjoying a good book or a cold beer on your private timber balcony. If you wish to explore the scenic beauty that is famous to Kuranda and the Atherton Tablelands then you have come to the right place.

Close by is the historic Douglas Walking Track which is 9 kilometres long and takes 4 hours to complete. The beautiful trail stretches from Kamerunga in Cairns right to Hilton Haven passing through stunning scenery and wildlife; it has great historical significance. This moderate track is part of The Barron Gorge National Park and used to be a popular route in the days of gold-mining and in the construction of the Kuranda Scenic Rail. Before the Kuranda Rail existed the Douglas Track was one of the only trails connecting the Atherton Tablelands to coastal Cairns.

If hiking and exploring the wilderness is not your forte you may prefer to explore the characteristic rainforest village of Kuranda which is only a five minute drive away from Hilton Haven. Kuranda possesses a unique collection of heritage markets, boutique shops, gourmet cafes and cultural diversity. There are several wildlife attractions in Kuranda that are worth exploring including: Bird World, The Butterfly Sanctuary, The Koala Gardens, The Venom Zoo and Rainforest Station Wildlife and Cultural Park.

Although the nearest major shopping center is 20 minutes away in Smithfield, only steps away from Hilton Haven you will find all your basic convenient shops including a tavern, general store, fuel station and restaurant. Your hosts of Hilton Haven, Jeff and Stella, along with other locals are eager to chat with guests swapping stories and local knowledge around a glowing fireplace or freshly prepared meal.

Location

Hilton Haven is located in the small community of Speewah which is five minutes outside of Kuranda, 25 minutes west of Cairns and accessible by the Kuranda range.
