The Cairns International Hotel, which was built in 1987, put Cairns on the map for quality luxury accommodation in Australia. Conceptually created by a Hawaiian architectural group and built by Cairns architects Clark & Prince, Cairns International Hotel recreates the history of Colonial Architecture in Far North Queensland. Local timbers and marbles reflecting the tropical colors and patterns were fashioned into the design and skilled craftsmanship is ever present throughout the building. The purpose of the Cairns International Hotel was to create a building that met all the needs of guests and at the time of construction even included a butchery. Today that same principle is still in place as all needs and desires of guests are catered for. After secondary developments of the restaurants and an 11 million dollar refurbishment Cairns International Hotel stands today as a remarkable emblem of Cairns history and a focal point for all tourists travelling to Cairns and the Far North.
The Cairns International Hotel maintains a unique aura of serenity and silence despite its City Center location. The world class facilities at Cairns International Hotel include 4 restaurants, a wellness spa and two lagoon style swimming pools (sheltered from any winds) amongst much more. Kingsford Restaurant is Cairns International Hotel’s premier restaurant offering silver service, gourmet meals and a relaxed atmosphere. Coco’s restaurant is an informal brasserie that allows casual dining from morning until night and Genkai is the hotels Japanese restaurant offering either Teppanyaki or A la carte menus. Rum and Raisin is the hotels convenient café and the lounge bar serves as a perfect meeting spot.
The rooms at Cairns International Hotel are spacious and well appointed and were designed with the discerning traveler in mind.
