Rose Gums Wilderness Eco-Retreat provides unique accommodation – nine timber tree houses nestled amongst the world heritage listed forest. This is unique and exclusive one-of-a-kind holiday accommodation located in the heart of paradise. Each one and two bedroom handcrafted pole and timber tree home features floor to ceiling windows which provide endless views of forest, Mt Bartle Frere (Queensland’s highest mountain) and a never ending variety of exotic tropical birds sweeping and swooping past your luxury chalet thru the canopy of the forest trees.

The tree houses can accommodate one to six people (all tree houses have unique bedding configurations), and Rose Gums prides itself on being a family friendly holiday retreat. The tree houses at Rose Gums Wilderness Eco-Retreat provide a unique ambiance, with high timber cathedral ceilings, handmade timber furniture, a wood burning fireplace and a deluxe spa bath perched near a window offering views of the tranquil rainforest. The tree houses are separated by a veil of rainforest, offering a degree of privacy and seclusion offered no-where else. Each tree house is completely self contained, with all modern conveniences such as a fully equipped kitchen with microwave oven, gas cook top and refrigerator, a washer and dryer, a stereo, television, DVD and clock radio, linen and a covered carport.

Rose Gums Activities & Pristine Wilderness
Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat provides an environment which allows you to do as little or as much as you like. Play tennis on the full sized hard court tennis court, or play board games and puzzles in your tree house in front of a warm open fire. Rose Gums features Mr Lee’s Restaurant, a delightful tree house restaurant that serves a banquet of traditional Laos food. Where possible, the fresh produce used at Mr Lee’s is food grown on Rose Gums property. There are an abundance of things to do and see for lovers of nature. Take one of the myriad of bush walks through the forest and spot some of the native denizens. There are over 160 species of birds on the property of Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat including cockatoos, parrots, Australian bush turkeys, kookaburras and finches. If you are lucky you may even spot the giant endangered Southern Cassowary. For the ornithologists amongst us Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat is simply divine. Enjoy the variety of wildlife that call Rose Gums home, such as kangaroos, wallabies, possums and flying foxes. Watch out for the Hercules moth – the largest moth in the world, the electric blue Ulysses butterfly, or the majestic Cairns Birdwing butterfly.

There are numerous private freshwater swimming holes spotted around the Rose Gums property and National Park, perfect for a refreshing dip during the day, or a romantic midnight wallow underneath the moonlit Australian sky at night. While holidaying at Rose Gums Wilderness Eco-Retreat take time to appreciate nature. Rose Gums is named after the tree of the same name, otherwise known as Eucalyptus grandis. The Rose Gum is the largest, most majestic tree on the property, and its ghost white trunk and branches can be seen towering over the other lush trees in the forest. Rose Gums can grow 55 meters tall and 1.8 meters in diameter, and are an important habitat for native creatures. The Rose Gum branches are hallow, and provide the perfect cosy home for possums, gliders, owls and parrots.
