These spacious Deluxe style Resort Rooms offer a separate sitting room with sofa bed (fees apply), Queen Bed, private balcony, ensuite, FREE Cable TV, minibar and tea and coffee making facilities.  These rooms can accommodate up to 4 guests using the sofa bed (additional fees apply). 

Two Bedroom Apartment 
With the option of 2 Queen Bedrooms, or 1 Queen and 2 Single Beds, these Two Bedroom Apartments are great for families or guests that prefer to have extra space. Complete with a balcony, separate sitting room, dining area with microwave oven, toaster, minibar and tea/coffee making facilities and FREE Cable TV these apartments are also great for longer stays.  Please note rates are based on 2 guests. Additional guests $30 per night (Max 4 guests).

Sovereign Resort Cooktown Attractions

Cooktown offers a range of activities including the James Cook Museum which is housed in a stunning 19th Century convent building and only a short walk from the Sovereign Resort.  Ensure to check out the Cooktown History Centre, one of Cooktown's oldest building erected in 1875 as the first post office which offers an insight into the unique history of the local region.

You can also view some local art in the Kuku Bulkaway Indigenous Art Gallery showcasing stories that the artists learned as children or scenes of the local region.  Located within the the Old Cooktown Railway Station is the Cooktown Creative Arts Association where you can view and purchase hand made arts and crafts.

Established in 1878 the Cooktown Botanic Gardens is home to Nature's Powerhouse an environment interpretive centre including Vera Scarth-Johnson's paintings, Cafe, Museum and walking tracks to Finch Bay and Cherry Tree Bay.

The annual Cooktown Discovery Festival takes place during the June long weekend complete with a re-enactment of the landing of Captain James Cook and his first meeting with local Aboriginal people.  Ensure to book early!

Location

Cooktown is accessible by a sealed inland road (approx 4 hours) suitable for all vehicles, or by the coast road via Cape Tribulation which is 4WD only. Alternatively ask us about our Overnight Cooktown Tours where you can take in the journey and learn about the region as you travel in comfort with a knowledgeable guide.

Getting to Cooktown:
Inland Road - The Inland drive on the Mulligan Highway, which is completely sealed, provides an introduction to the great Australian outback and a way of life which has remained unchanged for decades. Cairns to Cooktown 331kms, Port Douglas to Cooktown 265kms.

Coast Road - (4WD vehicles only) The Coast Road takes you through the World Heritage Rainforests of Cedar Bay and Cape Tribulation. After Cape Tribulation the road is road is unsealed (80kms) and maybe closed during the Wet Season. Cairns to Cooktown 250kms, Port Douglas to Cooktown 194kms.
