Australia, New Zealand and France are the only nations to have played in every tournament, and only three nations have won the competition since it’s inception, with Australia taking home the coveted Paul Barrière trophy ten times, Great Britain three times and New Zealand once since 1954.
Tourism and Events Queensland, The Cairns Regional Council and the Rugby League World Cup worked together to secure the three games for Cairns, providing local rugby fans a front row seat to see the world’s best players battling it out for the rugby league world domination.
