Our stay at Breakfree Royal Harbour was great. Very comfortable and clean apartment with a lovely balcony overlooking the esplanade. The location was so central and there was easy access to everything we needed. Supermarket was only a 1 block easy walk and lots of eating places below to choose from.

We think this is the best location in Cairns - central to absolutely everything! We changed rooms part-way through our stay (pre-arranged) and the staff could not have been more helpful with co-ordinating the move so that there was no delay between leaving our first room and moving into the second. Both rooms were clean and well appointed.

Breakfree Royal Harbour Apartment in Cairns is situated right on the lovely esplanade. It was a pleasure to sit on the balcony and watch the parade during the Cairns Festival and at other times. My apartment was clean and comfortable, requiring only minor maintenance attention.

Definitely the location was superbly, the view was amazing, very clean, friendly staff; this was very good.

I was astonished to find that wifi internet was not included in the rental. I paid something like $120 extra which was not for the whole 14 days to have internet access. Last year when I stayed at On The Beach in Trinity Beach wifi was included without charge. I told the manager at Royal Harbour that I would excluded the Mantra Group from future stays if this was their overall policy. He said he would report my views. I could go to Vietnam etc. in future and know that I would not be hit for such an unwelcome extra charge. Australian hotel groups are just so out of touch on this.

I explained to Mr Hoyle that the Mantra Group has already spent many hours investigating, discussing and negotiating about WiFi. In our group of over 100 hotels, resorts and apartment properties, the final decision could be extremely expensive. We know from the feedback of other enterprises that have already provided free WiFi, that they now regret the expenditure. It is very early days in this technology and a cost-effective, long term solution is what we are seeking - not one which could be out of date in a year or two.

I did a bit of research before booking and never been to Cairns before so I wanted something close to town and with ocean views. This place had it all we were on 6th floor with magic views of everything we just sat on the balcony sometimes taking it all in. It was also a child free establishment. The apartment was well located to dining, the convention centre and for tours pick up. There was no instructions for the washing machine and not all bathroom lights were working. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work and had an excess build up of fluff and dust in it. The is a fire hazard. The issue of the fire alarm and cost to us in the event it went off should be on the web site.

Our Reception staff make a point of informing guests at check-in about the cost of a false alarm causing a fire engine to attend but the charge is standard throughout Queensland and we see no need to include this information on our web site. The bathroom fan does work - but it does not make a noise, it gently removes steam from the bathroom. The fluff has been removed with a new vacuum cleaner which replaced the one that stopped working in late August. Washing machine instructions are kept in the large bottom drawer in the kitchen. We had to wait over an hour for the night manager to let us in via the late check-in procedure. Only received a free breakfast pack for each visitor (2 in total, so a total of $16) - better compensation needed for keeping us waiting for so long in the middle of the night.

The location of this accommodation was great - very central. The overall service and range of facilities was also satisfying. I would have to say though that the apartment wasn't as clean as I would have liked it. There was a lot of dust and the bathroom had hair. We had our baby with us and after crawling around for an hour her clothes were black! Overall we had a positive experience.

We were very impressed with the apartment, the view was pleasent, the balcony excellent, staff wonderful, facilities and service great, location perfect, all made for an enjoyable holiday.

All was good. Room well cleaned, any requests were completed quickly and without fuss. Will be back to hotel when next in cairns.
