Cooktown has previously been known as a frontier destination in Far Northern Queensland with its quirky characters and a great pioneering history from the sea faring days of Captain Cook landing here in 1770 after sailing all the way from England in a timber boat with Joseph Banks the botanist and Daniel Solander the naturalist and acclaimed botanist along with a hard working crew mixed in with a few paying civilians.
Nowadays there is a nice highway that you can travel along quite comfortably to reach Cooktown and you can also book a nice motel with great views over the Endeavour River. Cooktown is a drawcard for tourists that are lovers of history and lovers of fishing and for those that just love to explore new horizons. Come along and explore Cooktown for yourself because if you don’t it’s just Unaustralian! Call Cairns Holiday Specialists on (07) 40595959 or 1300 852 526
