Yes, but it's not quite up to the standard of Shangri-La hotels in Hong Kong and Singapore, even though it represented value because of the free third night.
We did enjoy the Horizon Lounge where the food and service were good.
Signposting of our North Tower room wasn't clear - sins pointing along the very long corridor to the North Tower and not just room numbers would help.
Yes, good room, great view, excellent meals from Room Service & marina restaurants, close to central Cairns and more great restaurants etc, hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, pool was fab too.

We stayed at the Shangri-La years ago when it was know as merely The Pier because of it's location. It is well located, an easy walk to the Marina, restaurants, the esplanade and main shopping areas.
The room on the horizon club floor was quite big enough for us and our 10 year old, although 3 nights on the sofa was stretching the friendshipn a bit. a rollaway bed would have been better as it could have been removed during the day.
The Horizon club lounge was great for snacks and drinks and worth the extra.
We would stay again but reuest a room closer to the lift end. While the view may be slightly better at the northern end, it is a long walk down the passage and the new pub on the pier had live bands and was quite noisy.
Very central. The rooms were a little tired for 5 star.
A great Hotel. From the Horizon Club Floor wonderful views on to the Ocean.
Not exactly cheap, but when 3 (out of 4) do not mind a glass of wine or 2 or so at early night time the price comes indirectly down a fair bit.

The Horizon Club offers complimentary drinks early in the evening which is a great saving and a great way to start off a lovely evening.
The Shangri- La Hotel Horizon Suites / Rooms are fantastic, I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a stress free break with a little extra comfort. The staff are extremely accommodating and the rooms are beautiful. The Location of the Hotel is superb and it would be very hard to find better. My only concern is if you get a room above one of the noisier restaurants that can be a bit of a problem with night time sleep unless you are a night owl. which we are not .
However the Hotel moved us to another room immediately and it was fantastic!
However I would recommend the Horizon package as long as your not travelling with a lot of children.
Unlimited wifi is great and the gym facilities fantastic!!
