Allawah Retreat Style of Rooms

Hideaway Spa Lodge Hideaway lodge is a romantic retreat, nestled amongst eucalypt trees with million-dollar views and accessed by a sensitively designed elevated timber boardwalk. The lodge has a modern open plan design and is 94 sq metres; it is the largest lodge and this is emphasized by the high cathedral ceilings. The centrally located granite and timber galley kitchen overlooks the deck and the views beyond. Luxury features include an under bench oven, deck, barbeque complete with bar fridge and granite bench top, plasma television with DVD surround sound system, and a spacious double shower.

The free flowing open plan design of the Hideaway Spa Lodge provides an abundance of natural light, and the high cathedral ceilings and wooden louvered windows encourage the flow of cool breezes that carry the scent of Eucalypt into the lodge. The Hideaway Spa Lodge is conducive to amour, with mood lighting, a luxurious king size bed with soft quality linen, a deluxe double shower, a cosy wooden fireplace and a large heated spa on the wooden deck which overlooks the vast Australian forest. The exclusive ‘Hot Springs’ spa is the perfect place to relax with a glass of champagne and enjoy the endless blue sky, or bathe in the shimmering stars and moonlight of the mysterious Australian night sky.

Treetops Spa Lodge This modern and elegant lodge is very spacious and offers panoramic views from every room. The king size bedroom has luxury linen and has a huge ensuite with double shower with sliding timber louver doors to provide for added privacy. Enjoy views from the deck or private garden courtyard. These lodges are 88sq meters. Each room at the Treetops Spa Lodge provides picturesque views of the surrounding wilderness, providing intimate acquaintance with the variety of exotic birds that are at home in the canopy of the Eucalypt forest.

Treetops Spa Lodge provides large outdoor living areas including a timber deck with divine hot spa and a private garden courtyard. Your garden courtyard will provide you with a unique view of the forest floor, and if you are lucky you will spot Kangaroos or Wallabies rustling through the native Australian bushland. Enjoy breakfast on the deck overlooking the forest, or prepare dinner on the deluxe barbeque station on provisions provided by Allawah Retreat. Moonlight Hilltop Spa Lodge The romantic Moonlight Lodge has an Australiana theme with views of eucalypt woodland from its high ridge vantage point and offers sweeping views over Atherton Tableland farmland to the coastal mountains of Cairns. The rich colour of red cedar furniture with timber floors adds to the relaxing ambiance of the wood fireplace in the lounge room. The Moonlight Spa Lodge has been designed to create a private retreat for two, and succeeds by making guests feel like they are literally a million miles from anywhere…or anyone.

Relax on the large wooden deck in the deluxe heated spa. Enjoy the panoramic views while you enjoy the warm caress of air from the spa jets, and rest assured no-one (except a few larrikin lorikeets or curious cockatoos) will see you. Allawah Retreat boasts a limited range of wine, champagne or beer available for guests to enjoy while relaxing on the deluxe verandah or in the divine bubbly spa. The Moonlight Hilltop Spa Lodge has been created to optimize natural sunlight and cool refreshing mountain breezes, while maintaining an ambiance of a small country cottage nestled amongst the forest trees. Honeygem Lodge The romantic Honeygem Lodge has a warm, homely, rich timber feel and overlooks eucalypt woodland from its high ridge vantage point, offering sweeping views across farmland to the coastal mountains. The rich colour of red cedar furniture and trims with timber floors add to the relaxing ambiance of the wood fireplace in the lounge room. The Queen size bed can be closed off behind folding timber louvre doors for added privacy. Honeygem lodge has been designed to offer maximum privacy, luxury and inside you will find meticulous attention to detail. Honeygem Lodge also features your own private plunge pool & courtyard in addition to spa deck.

Allawah Retreat Facilities and Attractions

Allawah (aboriginal for 'sit down, stay here and rest a while') is the ideal romantic getaway or as a superb base from which to explore all the attractions of the historic Tablelands and the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. The walking tracks allow you to explore the surrounding rainforest. All the trees planted at Allawah Retreat are natives which provide nectar and seed to attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife. Some bird life in the area include blue winged kookaburras, black cockatoos, wedge tail eagles, honeyeaters of various varieties, brolgas, rainbow lorikeets, pale headed lorikeets, kingfishers, finches, bower birds, curlews, owls, rainbow bee eaters, pigeons, cuckoo shrike, currawongs, dollar birds, spangled drongos… just to name a few.

At Allawah Retreat enjoy a relaxing aromatherapy massage on the privacy of your lodges deck. Different massages and packages are available including Swedish, sport and remedial massages. Food and beverage options are also available if booked 48 hours in advance. A barbeque pack, Italian and Curry Menus are available as well as premium Australian wines. Lunch and picnic hampers are also available for you to explore the Atherton Tablelands region at your leisure.

Allawah Retreat Meal Options

Allawah Retreat offers several meal options, and caters for special dietary requirements if notified upon booking. The Cairns Highlands is a renowned farming region, known as the ‘food bowl’ of Tropical North Queensland, and produces some of the finest fresh produce, meats and dairy in all of Australia. Enjoy these fine foods at your stay at Allawah Retreat. The gourmet barbeque pack provided by Allawah Retreat is sumptuous. Offering a reef and beef, a beef and chicken or a seafood barbeque hamper is sure to provide delectable delights. All barbeque packs come with fresh salad stuffs, complete with herbs and spices. The Allawah Retreat offers a bucket of fresh prawns chilled on ice and severed with a bottle of champagne, a variety of Indian curries prepared by a Kashmiri chef, a selection of home baked Italian pasta meals or an antipasto platter complete with chargrilled capsicum, mushroom and eggplant with Italian cheese, salami, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and olives served with warm crusty ciabatta bread and dipping oil. These delectable delights can be enjoyed in the privacy of your lodge or on a picnic blanket amongst the native Australian forest and furry and feathered creatures of the forest. Allawah Retreat Eco-Ethos

Allawah Retreat blends seamlessly in with the pristine Australian milieu and allows guests to experience native Australian bushland while leaving no ecological footprint. The retreat is small, only four lodges located amongst 150 acres of wilderness, providing very little environmental disturbance. Each lodge is raised on poles, providing little impact on the forest floor or the ground dwelling animals that call the forest floor home. Each lodge has access to freshly captured rainwater, and all water is recycled. The grey water at Allawah Retreat is used to water plants and grow native vegetation. All flora planted on site is native Australian, and serves to attract Australian wildlife and provide a safe forest habitat for these furry and feathered rainforest creatures. While Allawah Retreat is teeming with a variety of exotic wildlife, feeding the animals is actively discouraged as it upsets the natural environmental balance that Allawah Retreat has worked hard to maintain.

The Cairns Highlands

Allawah Retreat is located in the heart of the Cairns Highlands, otherwise known as the Atherton Tablelands. The Cairns Highlands boasts a variety of natural attractions such as giant Volcanic freshwater crater lakes, ancient majestic tropical fig trees and freshwater streams and beautiful waterfalls teeming with turtles, playful platypus and slithery eels. The Cairns Highlands is home to several quaint villages including Tolga and Yungaburra. Tolga is a quaint rural township, renowned for its thriving agricultural sector. Yungaburra is a heritage listed Village in the heart of the Atherton Tablelands that nostalgically transports visitors back to a yesteryear long forgotten. Enjoy a Devonshire breakfast at Lake Barrine Tea House, as you relax on the large wooden wrap-around veranda overlooking the calm waters of the crater lake. Yungaburra boasts numerous delightful cafes and restaurants, shops selling unique regional arts, crafts and antiques. While visiting Yungaburra be sure to visit Spencer and Murphy Booksellers who specialize in second hand and antiquarian books. Enjoy a steaming cup of coffee as you peruse the antiquated bookstore that is located in a charming country cottage, complete with warm wooden floorboards, a country-style garden and comfortable chairs scattered on the large veranda for guests to relax and enjoy the divine ambiance. 89km or 1 1/4 hours south-west of Cairns. Allawah is located 1 hours scenic drive from Cairns International Airport, approximately 12 km’s from Atherton and 7 km’s from Tolga. Car hire or transfers can be arranged by request.
